Switzerland, South Carolina is a small unincorporated community located in Hampton County, South Carolina, United States. The community is situated about 60 miles west of Charleston and is a part of the larger city of Varnville. Switzerland was once a thriving logging town in the early 20th century until the closure of the local mill, which led to its decline. Today, the community is mostly residential and is home to a small population of people. Attractions in the area include the nearby Great Swamp Sanctuary, a wildlife refuge, and educational center.
